The Dos and Don’ts of Bridal Jewelry

You’ve found the perfect wedding gown, now it’s time to accessorize! With many wedding gowns detailed with faux pearls, rhinestones, organza flowers, sequins and other bling, it can be difficult to choose bridal jewelry that will enhance your wedding gown, not take away from it.

Bridal Jewelry: Bracelets, Earrings & Necklaces

Bridal Jewelry DOs:

* Glam it up! Vintage gowns are trending, so is vintage inspired bridal jewelry.

* If your dress has lots of details above the waist or you are wearing a bridal headpiece with bling, go simple.

* Make a Statement. Necklaces continue to be bold and beautiful when the gown has less detailing on top.

* Pearls will always be a traditional staple. The simplicity and coloring of pearls goes well with many traditional styled wedding gowns.

* Bling it on. Bracelets can be slim or wide, simple or extravagant. Just be sure it doesn’t weigh you down!

Emerald – A Gem of a Color for Weddings

If you’re still deciding on a color scheme for your fall wedding, you might want to consider the Pantone color of the year for 2013 – emerald.  Emerald green is a color that often represents growth or renewal so it’s a great color choice for the beginning of your new life together.  Emerald is a lush jewel tone that evokes luxury and it’s a brilliant color choice for a formal or casual wedding.   For formal weddings, you can incorporate the color emerald by adding cascading emerald crystals to chandeliers, using green emerald like stones at the base of floral centerpieces and emerald stone accents in the center of flowers or use emerald peacock feathers as accents in centerpieces, bouquets or on your cake. For more casual weddings, you can use emerald votive candles on tables, emerald striped paper straws for drinks or emerald bows on the backs of chairs. Whether you go formal or casual, emerald is a great color choice for weddings. Do you have any ideas on incorporating emerald into wedding décor? Shop Green Wedding Accessories >

Adding Color to your Wedding Attire

When it comes to weddings, it seems to always be about the bride. From what she’ll wear to her rehearsal dinner to the wedding gown (or gowns) that she’ll adorn at the ceremony and reception. But what about the other half?

Grooms everywhere are becoming more and more involved in the day to day planning, and as a result, getting excited about how he will look when he walks down the aisle! Need some inspiration on how to infuse color into your suit or tuxedo? Look no further:

Wedding Tuxedo - adding color

One thing to notice in our fun and colorful inspiration board is that the classic black tuxedo with white or black tux and vest is not present! A Black Tie Wedding has its restrictions but is oh-so-amazing with its crisp formality, especially at beautiful venues found in top cities like Boston and NYC. Black Tie is typically held after 6pm and is noted on the invitation. Learn more about dressing for a Black Tie Wedding.

Trending shades of navy, grey and tan are becoming increasingly popular:

  • Navy Tuxedos have been popping up all over the red carpet over the past few years. This look has an elegant feel and is a favorite for a formal wedding on the waterfront. Imagine paired with a Nautical Theme!
  • Tan Suits are an amazing choice for couples getting married outdoors. Also a great choice for a seaside wedding, but also perfect for a garden or outdoor wedding in the spring or summer.
  • Grey Suits and Tuxedos come in so many shades! From a breezy,  linen grey suit for an afternoon summer wedding to charcoal grey for an evening winter wedding, this color is the perfect choice for the groom who doesn’t want to stray too far from classic black.

Regardless of the color tuxedo or suit you choose – grey, tan, navy or black – adding a pop of color is easy to do. Have fun, enjoy. Let your individual style stand out!

Wedding Costs Where You Live

Can you guess the most expensive place to get married in the U.S.? According to a recent industry survey by XO Group Inc., creator of TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com and based on survey results from those sources, it’s New York City.

Wondering where your city fell on the list? Here are the top 10 locations from their list of 20.

  1. New York City
  2. Chicago
  3. New York Metro (Long Island, Hudson Valley and NYC Outer Boroughs)
  4. Northern/Central New Jersey and Southern New Jersey
  5. Rhode Island
  6. Santa Barbara/Ventura, CA
  7. Boston
  8. Philadelphia
  9. Connecticut
  10. San Francisco

My advice to East Coast brides is start saving since 7 out of the 10 most expensive places to get married are located there.
