It’s that time of year again, when lots of women are newly engaged and the results from David’s Bridal’s 8th annual “What’s on Brides’ Minds” Survey are in.  As per their survey of recently engaged and married women, here are a few answers to some of this year’s round of questions.

> 56% of women surveyed said they didn’t know their fiancé/husband was the one when they first met

> When asked how they met, most couples (27%) said through a friend

How would you answer those questions?  Do you fall within the majority?

Brides Goes Hollywood

The February/March issue of Brides Magazine is usually one of the biggest and most anticipated issues of the year and this year is no exception.  Brides Magazine recently announced that they will feature celebrity covers and Hollywood bridal moments.

The February/March cover will feature supermodel and personality Coco Rocha donning a never-before-seen Truly by Zac Posen bridal gown. Zac and Coco will appear together in a fashion feature inside with an accompanying interview.  An added bonus this issue – the debut of Drew Barrymore as a guest beauty columnist.  Readers can write Drew with beauty questions at AskDrew@brides.com.

Since celebs are often stylish trendsetters, I think that adding them is a perfect complement to the magazine’s dedication to everything stylish for weddings.  I love the idea of featuring more celebrities in the magazine.  How about you?

Glowing Gown Hits the Runway

o I just came across this piece in The Huffington Post about Japanese designer Yumi Katsura. She recently showed a wedding gown covered with lights from top to bottom at Fide Fashion Week in Singapore. At first, I thought this idea was a bit over the top but on second thought, I thought why not? Can you imagine the reaction of your guests if you walked into a dimly lit reception room all aglow? The moment would be beyond dramatic!

I checked out her website and it’s no wonder her latest gown is so unique. An innovative veteran of the bridal gown industry, she creates gorgeous gowns that are like works of art.

What do you think about her latest creation? Check it out here >

Battery Operated Bridal T

It’s still popular for a bride-to-be to wear a t-shirt or sweatpants emblazoned with the word bride. The word bride is usually an ironed on decal or sometimes it’s a rhinestone bride tank or tee but I saw a new t-shirt that would be so much fun for a bride to wear – a LED t-shirt that lights up!

The T-Qualizer Store just launched bride and groom themed t-shirts that light up and flash to the music. There are two new designs available for both brides and grooms. There’s a Here Comes the Bride (or Groom) in a funky font that flashes to the beat of music and an Everyone Needs a Marriage License (Plate), a unique vanity plate which also lights up and animates.

These shirts would be a big hit at a bachelor or bachelorette party. They’d surely get a lot of attention!

To celebrate these four new shirts, T-Qualizer is giving away two sets of them to two lucky people! To enter just visit their Facebook fan page, and click the ‘Contest’ button.

Wedding Registry App Makes Shopping Easy

I read about a pretty cool new wedding registry iPhone app that I thought I’d share with you.  Instead of registering at just a few stores for your shower or wedding gifts, the new Wedding Registry App lets you create a registry list by scanning the barcode of any item in any store using your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad2.  This allows your family and friends to buy the gifts from any store they want.

Once you download the free app from the iTunes App Store to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad2 and register for a free account, you can start compiling your list.  When the registry is complete, tell your family and friends to join your group account in order to see your list.  Items get organized into categories like cookware, tabletop, etc. and include pictures, comments and personalization by you.  When they select a gift, the registry gets updated immediately.  It’s that simple.

Another reason I like the new Wedding Registry App is that it allows your family and friends to make purchases at stores where they have a credit card, rewards points or where a registry item might be on sale.

If you’re using the app, let us know how you like it.
