2013’s Hot Honeymoon Destinations

Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine just put out their list of Best Honeymoon Destinations for 2013. They list 12 locales that’ll be popular honeymoon spots next year. Your typical places like Caribbean islands and Hawaii are mentioned but a few of the spots may surprise you. They surprised me. Here are a couple places I didn’t expect to see on their list but that I think would make for great honeymoon getaways.

Miami, Florida – Miami would not be on my list of vacation destinations, although after reading more about all this fabulous city has to offer in terms of nightlife, dining and South Beach, I think it’d be a really fun place to hang out and party with my hubby.

Barcelona, Spain – This is a location with lots of history, gorgeous architecture, is walkable and has a hot restaurant scene, all wonderful qualities for couples who like to take a romantic stroll and take in the beauty and culture of a city. Did I mention the hot restaurant scene?

The Turkish Riviera – This locale has ancient architecture and beautiful hills dotted with houses by the sea. You can explore on land by meandering through some of the smaller villages or rent a boat and go sailing into the sunset with the one you love.

Maybe one of these spots interests you? If not, check out the entire list of Best Honeymoon Destinations 2013.

Have a Magical Wedding at Disney World

Walt Disney World celebrates its 40th anniversary this weekend so I wanted to send a birthday shout out to one of my all time favorite and most fun places to vacation.  Some may think of Disney World as a resort only for families but Disney World is a popular destination for weddings and honeymoons as well.

Disney World’s theme and water parks, resort hotels and various nighttime activities are what make it a top ranking honeymoon destination but you can also get married there.  They offer several types of packages including one where you get married in the Magic Kingdom and ride in Cinderalla’s Coach.  I can’t think of a more magical wedding than that!

Planning a Disney wedding?  We want to hear about it.

Honeymoon Hotspot: Venice, Italy

Oh sweet Italy! They say it’s one of the most romantic places in the world. In hearing that one particular place comes to mind….Venice. Like most people, when I think of Venice I think of a romatic gondola ride with the one I love.  While some may think its the ultimate tourist attraction and find it to be a little cheesy, I find it to be terribly romantic.

With warm temperatures, quaint cobblestones streets and waterways and the taste of true Italian cooking it’s no wonder this beautiful place is a top choice among honeymooners.

Hire a Pet Sitter during your Honeymoon

If you have a pet and are worried about how he or she will handle being boarded while you’re on your honeymoon, maybe hiring a pet sitter to care for Fido while you’re away is an option. Professional pet sitters who provide in-home pet care are becoming more popular as pet owners look to keep their furry friends as comfortable as possible while they are away.

According to Pet Sitters International, the organization founded in 1994, here are some reasons why pet owners hire professional pet sitters:

• Pets are happier and experience less stress at home.

• Diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted.

• Travel trauma for both owner and pet is eliminated.

• Pet’s exposure to illness is minimized.

• Untrained or unwilling friends/family/neighbors need not be called.

• In-home professional pet care provides added peace of mind.

Honeymooning is a fun, relaxing time for you and your spouse. Don’t stress about leaving your pet at home. Set up reliable pet care when you are away and enjoy your new life as husband and wife without worry.

PSI invites pet owners looking for in-home pet care to visit www.petsit.com to find professional pet sitters in their local areas.

Honor Each Other & the Earth

Looking for a special way to remember your wedding day?  Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, the Caribbean’s Top Luxury Hotel according to TripAdvisor, gives newlyweds the new opportunity to enhance the environment and commemorate their union by planting a Nevis coconut palm on the grounds following their ceremony at Nisbet.   Then, for years to come, whenever the couple returns to Nevis, they can see how their palm grows with them.

I think this is such a great idea but if you’re not planning on getting married at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, you can still honor the earth as part of your wedding day celebration wherever you live or get married.  If you’re taking bridal party photos in a local park or outside your place of worship, perhaps you can arrange for a tree planting there.  Maybe you can have a tree planted outside the country club, local fire hall, or catering hall during the reception in memory of your special day. Or, if you’ve already purchased a home, it would be nice to plant a tree in the backyard as close to your wedding day as possible as a daily reminder of your growing love and commitment to each other.

A wedding day tree planting ceremony is one way to show your dedication to each other and the environment that you’ll continue to enjoy year after year.

Healthy Honeymoons

If you read Deb’s blog a few weeks back about Packing for your Honeymoon, then you
should have your honeymoon checklist all checked off.  I’m gonna give you another thing to add to the list – vaccines.

Some of the world’s best honeymoon destinations include some exotic places like Tahiti, Bali, South Africa and Mexico.  Did you know that it’s wise to be vaccinated for certain diseases before traveling overseas?  You should really check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, cdc.gov, to get the latest information and list of vaccinations needed for your honeymoon destination.  Some vaccines may require a series of several shots or a certain period of time to work, so once you book your trip, it’s a good idea to check on what shots you may need so you can plan accordingly.

With the current boom in the exotic travel/adventure travel industries, there are travel health & immunization clinics popping up nationwide that can get you the shots you need.  You’ve spent so much time and money planning for the perfect dream honeymoon; don’t let illness turn it into a nightmare.

To find a travel clinic near you, use The Travel Clinic Locator, located at travelersvaccines.com
