Most people know that the wedding ring symbolizes unending love or that the white wedding gown symbolizes purity but have you ever wondered about the meaning of some other popularly used symbols? Below is some inspiration you’ll find from our Wedding Symbols Pinterest Board.

o I just came across this piece in The Huffington Post about Japanese designer Yumi Katsura. She recently showed a wedding gown covered with lights from top to bottom at Fide Fashion Week in Singapore. At first, I thought this idea was a bit over the top but on second thought, I thought why not? Can you imagine the reaction of your guests if you walked into a dimly lit reception room all aglow? The moment would be beyond dramatic!
I checked out her website and it’s no wonder her latest gown is so unique. An innovative veteran of the bridal gown industry, she creates gorgeous gowns that are like works of art.
David’s Bridal just announced that bridal designer Melissa Sweet is unveiling her Melissa Sweet for David’s Bridal Collection this month exclusively in David’s Bridal stores nationwide, in Canada and online. The inaugural collection features seven poetic gowns that combine a softly modern aesthetic with classic dressmaking details. The gowns cost between $950 and $1400 and are available in sizes 0-14. Additionally, sizes 16-26 will be available for special order in stores.
I think David’s Bridal already has a great selection of designer collections like Vera Wang, Oleg Cassini and Galina Signature but Melissa Sweet’s Collection will add something for brides who like a romantic, heirloom or vintage style. I especially love vintage styling so I’d definitely be interested in checking out her new collection, how about you? You can view it at www.davidsbridal.com.
I recently saw the cutest manicure in Glamour Magazine. It was on Zooey Deschanel and it was a tuxedo manicure. Each fingernail was painted like a white tuxedo shirt complete with black studs, bow tie and cummerbund. I thought this would be a really fun manicure to wear to a wedding or any formal occasion.
Check out the DIY instructions from Zooey’s nail guy on glamour.com to learn how to create the look at home. It looks pretty easy to do. I think I’ll try it out. How about you?

Filene’s Basement, started in 1909 in Boston by William Filene, is going out-of-business. Going-out-of business sales began on November 16th. The closing of Filene’s, best known for its annual “Running of the Brides” sales event, where brides-to-be would camp outside the stores and wait in line for hours with their family and friends for a chance at buying discounted bridal gowns, is sure to deliver a devastating blow to future brides who were hoping to snag a discounted designer gown at the event. I find it so sad that another great retailer, over 100 years old, will be history.

Couples spend a lot of time packing for their honeymoons but how many think about the luggage they will use? After all, your luggage will transport your new clothes, accessories and bridal lingerie, so you want it to be durable. From rolling luggage, garment bags or carry on suitcases, there are a variety of styles to suit your packing needs.
When purchasing luggage, keep these things in mind:
Will you check or carry on your luggage?
Do you prefer wheels and a handle for pulling or straps for carrying?
How durable is the fabric? Is it waterproof?
Does it come with a warranty?
Check the zippers and locks for strength.
A monogrammed, Louis Vuitton, hard sided suitcase, would be on my luggage wish list, but I could travel in style with a couple new pieces of Samsonite too. How about you?
Most brides will either buy lingerie, bras and panties, or get them as gifts before their wedding, but how many of us really know our correct bra size? Research shows that most of us wear the wrong bra size so Nordstrom is inviting customers to meet with a certified fit expert for a complimentary fitting from Thursday, October 20 through Saturday, October 22.
Well fitting intimate wear can definitely make a difference with how clothes look and feel on so get properly fitted before you buy to ensure the best garments for your shape and size. If you’re at the Nordstrom’s fitting event and do decide do buy, Nordstrom and participating brands will donate $2.00 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® for every bra purchased. Let’s buy some bras and help raise awareness and funds during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Many of us look to Hollywood celebrities to find out what styles are hot and which ones are not. If you saw the recent Emmy Awards, I’m sure you noticed that there were a few hot trends worth watching. The trends I noticed most were the continued popularity of the one shoulder gown, plunging necklines and the color red.
Many celebrity formal clothing trends end up crossing over into the bridal world. We’ve already seen plenty of one shoulder gown styles for bridesmaids’ dresses and another Emmy trend that might catch on for weddings is the color red. Red ruled the red carpet as actresses Sofia Vergara, Lea Michele, Kate Winslet, Kerry Washington, Nina Dobrev and Sarah Hyland all wore red. Red’s a great choice for a Christmas, Valentine’s or fall/winter wedding. Red evokes warmth and passion and really makes a dramatic statement.
