Couples spend a lot of time looking for just the right place to have their wedding ceremony and reception. Some couples opt for the traditional church and banquet hall wedding while others may want something a little more unique. If a unique venue is what you’re looking for, how about tying the knot on a floating chapel?
Navigate your nautical nuptials in style aboard Weddings on Water, the Floating Chapel on the Bay. This wedding chapel cruises into Sarasota Bay and the surrounding Intracoastal Waterway. The only floating chapel in America, it is a unique location for weddings, vow renewals, or anniversary celebrations. With stained glass windows, cathedral ceilings and pews that can accommodate up to 100 guests, as well as a bridal suite, the floating chapel offers a church setting combined with the beauty of the bay.

An Outdoor Chapel
OMG, I am in love! This has to be one of the coolest wedding ideas I have ever seen. Green Wedding Shoes featured this super creative idea for a wedding ceremony a few months back and I just happened to stumble upon it now and boy am I glad I did!
So here’s how the story goes… “This couple got married in the bride’s parent’s backyard and had the great idea to create their own outdoor chapel. The bride’s younger brother built all the amazing elements.” {Green Wedding Shoes}

The double doors, the gorgeous arched windows…his work is so creative and beautifully detailed.

The broken window pane is dramatically displayed behind the yellow dresser. The yellow is bold, bright and beautifully stands out.

I love the vintage detailing of the dresser and how perfectly accessorized it is with candles and a birdcage holder. But let’s not overlook the lovely chandelier hanging above…isn’t it perfection?

Vendor Spotlight: Bonardi’s Formalwear
This weeks Vendor Spotlight is Bonardi’s Formalwear. First let me start by sharing with you some interesting information about the history of the tuxedo that I found on Bonardi’s site.
“Once upon a time people didn’t bother to dress for dinner, they were too busy hunting for it and weddings tended to be a rather informal affairs. By the late 1700’s formal dress was primarily for the rich and noble. Fancy, colorful and fussy. In fact, just about everything in those days tended to be a little fussy.
In the early 19th century, a long came an Englishman who changed the face of male fashion, Mr. Beau Brummell. He introduced the world to classic English tailoring and for 15 years fashion hung on his every word. When Beau said I think I will wear a cravat, everybody wore cravats.
In 1886 another famous dandy, Mr. Griswalled Laurellaud shook the fashion world, when he clipped the tails off the swallow tail coat and transformed it into the first tuxedo. It was made of worsted wool and had no pockets. The occasion was the Autumn Ball and the place was The Tuxedo Park Club in New York. The tuxedo was an overnight sensation.
In 1903, Mr. Samuel Rudolphker, father of Marliss and Max opened his gentlemen’s tailoring factory in Philadelphia, but even he didn’t know that he would revolutionize men’s formalwear.
In 1930, Marliss and Max Rudolphker introduced the 1st mass market ready to wear tuxedo. The price was $16.00
In 1950, After Six changed the face of formalwear with the comfortable light weight, Tony Martin Tuxedo. The tuxedo was in. Then in 1954 After Six created the 1st wash and wear dinner jacket in dashing white and the formalwear rental market came into it’s own. Now everyone could afford to step out in formal style.
In the 60’s nearly anything went and even formalwear went a little wild.
But now the bowtie’s back bigger than ever with a return to formal elegance. Now America is celebrating it’s special occasions with the elegance that only formalwear can give. And that teenager night of nights “The Prom” is back in style and the kids are loving it.
Today’s weddings are wonderfully, joyously formal occasions again. From the big day for the royal family to the big day for your own little girl.” {Bonardi’s}
If you’re looking for a tuxedo or suit, you’ll want to talk with Bonardi’s as they have been in business for over 80 years - they have the experience to fit you properly so that you’ll feel comfortable. No tugging. No adjusting. No loosening. Your focus will be on enjoying yourself!
They provide on-site alterations and same day service. In-stock items include tuxedos ranging from sizes infant to 72; accessories like bow ties, cummerbunds, shoes, hats, canes, gloves and formal scarves. So, you can do it up, or, play it down - as you wish.
Grooms tuxedo rental is always free with 4 others. Out of state groomsmen are their specialty! When only the finest will do…Bonardi’s is the place for you!
Honeymoon Hotspot: Venice, Italy
Oh sweet Italy! They say it’s one of the most romantic places in the world. In hearing that one particular place comes to mind….Venice. Like most people, when I think of Venice I think of a romatic gondola ride with the one I love. While some may think its the ultimate tourist attraction and find it to be a little cheesy, I find it to be terribly romantic.

With warm temperatures, quaint cobblestones streets and waterways and the taste of true Italian cooking it’s no wonder this beautiful place is a top choice among honeymooners.

Love the Environment This Valentine’s Day
The recently conducted “What’s on Brides’ Minds” survey by David’s Bridal showed that about half (48%) of brides say they will be more eco-conscious in their wedding plans and more than a quarter (26%) of respondents say they will use locally sourced food or flowers during their reception; another quarter (25%) chose to use recycled materials whenever possible. That’s great news for the event planners of Boston’s First Eco-Friendly Wedding Showcase.

Boston’s first green wedding showcase arrives on February 14th at the Hyatt Harborside, Boston, from 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sustainability, carbon footprint consciousness, diligence in terms of choice and selection regarding earthly impact are immensely important and representatives from eco-savvy wedding vendors and services will be on hand to help brides plan their weddings in a way that shows their love for the environment as well as their fiancé.

The Elegantly Green Wedding Showcase will also have an informal fashion show, educational seminars, book signing, and a lounge area featuring live music; the Hyatt will host site tours of their facility and after the show guests can enjoy the Hyatt’s Valentine’s Day dinner special.

For information on the showcase, old cell phone recycling at the event, how to register to win a sweetheart getaway, and how to share a ride with other guests visiting, visit Elegantly Green Wedding Showcase.
Sunflowers
As a little girl I remember being frightened by sunflowers. I found it very strange and daunting that a flower grew to such a large size. I mean how is it possible that a flower can be taller than you? But now I am much older {unfortunately not any taller} and have taken a liking to these bright and bold beauties! I really enjoy seeing them with purple!
