Honor Each Other & the Earth

November 17th, 2008 by Andrea

Looking for a special way to remember your wedding day?  Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, the Caribbean’s Top Luxury Hotel according to TripAdvisor, gives newlyweds the new opportunity to enhance the environment and commemorate their union by planting a Nevis coconut palm on the grounds following their ceremony at Nisbet.   Then, for years to come, whenever the couple returns to Nevis, they can see how their palm grows with them.

I think this is such a great idea but if you’re not planning on getting married at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, you can still honor the earth as part of your wedding day celebration wherever you live or get married.  If you’re taking bridal party photos in a local park or outside your place of worship, perhaps you can arrange for a tree planting there.  Maybe you can have a tree planted outside the country club, local fire hall, or catering hall during the reception in memory of your special day. Or, if you’ve already purchased a home, it would be nice to plant a tree in the backyard as close to your wedding day as possible as a daily reminder of your growing love and commitment to each other.

A wedding day tree planting ceremony is one way to show your dedication to each other and the environment that you’ll continue to enjoy year after year.

Healthy Honeymoons

September 15th, 2008 by Andrea

If you read Deb’s blog a few weeks back about Packing for your Honeymoon, then you
should have your honeymoon checklist all checked off.  I’m gonna give you another thing to add to the list – vaccines.

Some of the world’s best honeymoon destinations include some exotic places like Tahiti, Bali, South Africa and Mexico.  Did you know that it’s wise to be vaccinated for certain diseases before traveling overseas?  You should really check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, cdc.gov, to get the latest information and list of vaccinations needed for your honeymoon destination.  Some vaccines may require a series of several shots or a certain period of time to work, so once you book your trip, it’s a good idea to check on what shots you may need so you can plan accordingly.

With the current boom in the exotic travel/adventure travel industries, there are travel health & immunization clinics popping up nationwide that can get you the shots you need.  You’ve spent so much time and money planning for the perfect dream honeymoon; don’t let illness turn it into a nightmare.

To find a travel clinic near you, use The Travel Clinic Locator, located at travelersvaccines.com

Honeymooning in Napa Valley

June 13th, 2007 by Debbie

My husband and I just got back from celebrating our anniversary in Napa Country and had a wonderful trip.  The idolic location makes it an ideal spot for celebrating a honeymoon or significate anniversary or birthday.

We stayed at the beautiful, Wine Country Inn and met several couples on their honeymoon. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the vineyards.  There are beautiful flower beds throughout the grounds, plus a secluded swimming pool.

While we were there we visited a few wineries, including the new Castello di Amorosa winery.  This winery was built in the style of a Tuscany castle and was well worth the tour.  The owner, Daryl Sattui, spend years researching the design and hired expert stone craftsman to ensure an authentic look.  Throughout the castle, are orginial doors, stonework, and artwork from Tuscany.  The castle even has a church and it has been rumored in the future it may be possible to get married in the castle’s chapel.

When planning our trip, we used NapaValley.com to find lodging, restaurants, etc.  Two restuarants that I would recomend are the Rutherford Grill and Tra Vigne
