Weddings in the Movies
Over the years, Hollywood has given us many different kinds of movies that have weddings or wedding themes woven into the plot. From romantic comedies to teary eyed dramas, audiences relate to the excitement and nervous tension that wedding stories provide.

With the 82nd annual Academy Awards coming up later this week, I thought we’d put together a list of some films from the past 80 years with marriages or weddings in the story lines.
1930’s – Platinum Blonde (1931) Jean Harlow & Loretta Young
1940’s – The Philadelphia Story (1940) Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn & James Stewart
1950’s – Father of the Bride (1950) Spencer Tracy & Elizabeth Taylor
1960’s – Barefoot in the Park (1967) Robert Redford & Jane Fonda
1970’s – A Wedding (1978) Desi Arnaz Jr. & Carol Burnett
1980’s – The Princess Bride (1987) Christopher Guest & Billy Crystal
1990’s – The Wedding Singer (1998) Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore
2000’s – Mamma Mia! (2008) Meryl Streep & Amanda Seyfried
