Avoid Winter Wedding Worries
Cost effective winter weddings are becoming popular choices for couples especially during the holiday season and Valentine’s Day, but couples getting married during this time of year need to keep an eye on the forecast and have a contingency plan in place in case of inclement weather.
Winter has just officially begun, yet some parts of the country have already experienced snowstorms, arctic temperatures, and wintery mixes. If snow does fall on your day or winter winds are whipping, consider these ideas for plan b:
~Visit your ceremony and reception sites on a snowy and rainy day to get an idea of how things are done in those situations and ask about their snow and ice removal policies.
~Make sure guests can arrive in a covered area outside the venue and there is a place for guests to take off winter boots, umbrellas, coats and hats once inside.
~Keep your guests warm by setting up a coffee bar with welcoming warm drinks as they arrive.
~Get dressed at the ceremony, or if traveling in your gown, bustle your train and have a warm coat or shawl to wear that will fit over your gown along with a pair of winter boots. Make sure to protect your hair and make-up from the outside elements too.
~Look into wedding insurance in case your wedding ends up having to be canceled.
Winter wedding weather is out of everyone’s control so don’t worry about it. Have a back-up plan to ensure things go as smoothly as possible and enjoy the day!

I love the striped boots! Up here in New England, the weather is so unpredictable and I always check to make sure my brides have a bad weather plan. One bride didn’t think of the possibility for bad weather and I suggested to her to go out the day before her wedding and get some cute boots and matching umbrella. She was thankful because it *down poured* all day! And it makes for some incredible photo opportunities! I love the idea of a coffee / hot drink bar!
Being prepared is all you can do – you never know if it will rain or shine. Love this bride’s attitude with her rain boots. Too cute!
If you’re planning a winter wedding it’s certainly worth looking at the possibility of wedding insurance. Not only might you have the concern of the whole day being cancelled, but there’s also the possibility that the photographer or DJ don’t make it through the snow, or your dress gets ruined for example.
Most of couples are planning for destination wedding- jetting off to the sun for that dream beach wedding or having a winter themed wedding high up in the mountains. May be, it would be more complicated to organize a wedding insurance abroad but there is no need to panic, you can take help of local wedding planners to cover your day and ensure it runs smoothly.
