Vendor Spotlight: Jan Boyd Calligraphy
Since 1980, Jan Boyd Calligraphy has been the leading Boston based calligraphy studio dedicated to the fine art of hand-lettering and design. Jan is experienced in many styles of lettering, in hand-mixing colors and in creating just the look you envision for the lettering of envelopes, menus, programs, place cards and seating scrolls. Supported by a studio staff that warmly handles all aspects of customer service, Jan Boyd personally creates all of the calligraphy and design work.
Envelope Addressing
People love to see their own names rendered in beautiful calligraphy. Hand lettered invitation envelopes announce to your guests, from the moment they first hear about it, that this will be an important and very special event.
Place Cards
Seating cards are an elegant way to let each guest know where they will be seated for the reception. They can be used on their own (with table numbers inside) or placed at each table setting in addition to the seating scroll placed at the entrance to the hall. Menus can be created for each guest individually, for each table or as a framed piece at the entrance to the reception.
Seating Scrolls
Each scroll is an individually created work of art. From your guest list, the scroll is hand lettered and the design work is hand drawn and painted to match your color scheme, your flowers, the location of your wedding, your theme. No two scrolls are ever exactly alike.
Programs, Menus
Individual PROGRAMS handed to each guest as they arrive are a wonderful, warm touch. You may list the wedding party (in detail, if you like, including how the bride and groom know each participant), the order of the service, and there’s even room to add a personal thank you from the bride and groom and directions to the reception! MENUS for each guest or each table are appreciated by the guests as a thoughtful touch so that they can anticipate the meal that you have chosen for them.
Table Numbers/Names
Table numbers (in words or numerals) or Table names can be calligraphed on tented cards or framed to be displayed with the centerpiece on each table.
Poems, quotations and songs are unique gifts that can be created and designed just for you – personalized for any special occasion. A reading from your wedding or the lyrics to your first dance can make a wonderful anniversary present. A special quotation can honor the birth of a new baby or be the perfect housewarming present.
