Milkshake Marriage Proposal Shakes up Couple
I have read and written about some unique marriage proposals but none that have ended with the intended bride’s ring vanishing during the proposal. This is exactly what happened to Reed Harris and Kaitlin Whipple. Reed and Kaitlin recently appeared on the TODAY Show to talk about their marriage proposal that didn’t go quite as planned.
Reed planned to propose to Kaitlin by placing her engagement ring in a Wendy’s milkshake while friends, who were in on the scheme, captured the moment on video. It seems Kaitlin used not only a straw to drink her shake but also a spoon since she was in a race with her friends to see who would finish first. When she got to the bottom of the cup, it was empty. Reed was surprised Kaitlin’s cup was empty and he had to tell her that she swallowed her ring. She thought he was kidding until a trip to the hospital showed the ring clearly on an x-ray. Reed proposed after the incident but instead of actually giving Kaitlin the ring, they had an x-ray picture of it. It would be a couple days before the ring would actually arrive.
