Interactive Gift Registry Helps Couples Buy a House
Well it’s certainly not how our grandparents bought their first house, but a new website, Hatch My House, an interactive gift registry, allows visitors to donate towards a bride and groom’s house fund.

In this age of digital media and video games, visitors and users alike get to have fun while donating since the site uses a graphic image of a house and allows users to design and visualize their home while visitors can purchase a part of the house like the windows or front door.

Here’s how to set up a registry:
Step 1 - users write a welcome note to their visitors describing the goal of the house fund – whether that be a down payment, home improvements or even furniture.
In step 2, users customize their ‘dream’ house, selecting their desired setting, style - craftsman or brownstone (with more on the way) - and color.
Users finalize their registry in step 3 by linking their new or existing PayPal account to HMH. By completing a simple form verifying their PayPal email, they’re ready for step 4 - to publish their registry.
In step 4, users pay a one-time sign up fee of $24.95 to publish their registry and get directed to their personalized URL link.
By copying this link, in step 5, users direct family members and friends to their registry - and start saving towards a home immediately!
Not sure how the Emily Post Institute would feel about asking wedding guests for money toward a house, but hey why not? Guests would probably rather give the couple something they need rather than something they don’t, plus a house is where the new bride and groom will begin their life together and raise a family. Who wouldn’t like to contribute to that?
