Inexpensive Ways to Make your Wedding Memorable

The wedding day is thought of to be one of the most important days of a couple’s life. Naturally, with so much anticipation and preparation for one day, couples want to ensure their wedding will be one to remember. So how does one make their wedding unique, memorable and everything they’ve ever dreamed?
With today’s economy, you have to be careful as to where you spend your money. Here are some ideas that won’t cost much but will add special moments to your day that will forever be remembered:
| The night before your wedding, write a message on special note paper to your fiancé/ fiancée to let them know just how special they are to you. You can include a poem or words to a special song. | ![]() |
| Wear your mother’s or grandmother’s wedding dress. If age has discolored it, take it to a bridal gown restorer to have it cleaned and restored. Another special touch would be to carry a replica of your mother’s or grandmother’s bridal bouquet | ![]() |
| Keep your guests guessing as to who is who by hanging copies of old wedding pictures of family and friends at the end of each pew. You can place the photos in a paper-matted frame and hang them with a pretty ribbon. Also try this at each reception table as part of the centerpiece or table name/number. | ![]() |
| Have your ushers give each guest a piece of fabric as they enter the church or reception or have a piece placed at each table setting at your reception. Have each guests sign their name and write a message to the bride and groom. When you’re back from your honeymoon and you’re all relaxed, sit down and sew the squares together to make a very special quilt. | ![]() |
| Right after the ceremony, gather all your guests on the steps of the church and have your wedding photographer or a friend take a group shot. Then get the negative and make copies to send along to guests with thank you notes. | ![]() |
| If you have children from a previous marriage, consider including them in the ceremony as a way to let them know how important and special they are within the marriage. Having them write their own vows or take part in the unity candle ceremony are both great ways to keep them involved. | ![]() |
| If your a bridesmaid, decorate thirteen bottles of wine for the bridal shower. Twelve bottles should be decorated for each month of the year and the last bottle decorated for a wedding anniversary. The couple will now have a bottle of wine to celebrate each month of the first year of marriage and a final bottle for their first anniversary. | ![]() |
| After you exchange your vows, have your parents come up to the altar with you and tell them how special they are to you. At the end of the ceremony, hand each mother a rose. | ![]() |
| Take the handkerchief that your mother or grandmother carried on their wedding day and tuck it into your bouquet or have it sewn into the hem of your dress. This can be used as your something old or something borrowed. | ![]() |

Great ideas. I really like the one about using the fabric squares to make a quilt.
Wonderful ideas! Another way (for many sates) is to have a friend perform the wedding ceremony. You can create something beautifully poignant and unique and have the vows administered by a special friend or family member. (Note: couples need to check with their local clerk & recorder to see if their state allows this option)
