Celebrate Earth Hour at Your Wedding
If you’re a bride interested in making a statement about global warming and you’re getting married on Saturday, March 28th, you may want to participate in a global event during your wedding, Earth Hour 2009. Earth Hour is looking to get 1 billion people to turn out the lights and vote for the earth. At 8:30 p.m. local time all over the world, people will be turning off the lights to bring awareness to the issue of climate change. Over 1,000 cities and towns in 80 countries are participating.
Maybe at 8:30 p.m., you can have the lights turned off or dimmed at your reception and have dancing by candlelight using eco-friendly, soy wax candles. Or, for a more whimsical twist, have glow dancing with guests outfitted in non-toxic colorful glow necklaces and bracelets. If you’re at an outdoor venue or a destination wedding, perhaps the lights can be turned off and you can mingle by solar powered tiki torch lights. If you decide to incorporate Earth Hour into your wedding reception, just check with the venue to make sure they are OK with having the lights out or dimmed.
