Video Proposal Surprises Customer

Some men spend a lot of time trying to come up with the perfect surprise marriage proposal for their girlfriends and if you are a soldier stationed overseas, the task becomes even more difficult to pull off. With today’s technology, you can buy the engagement ring online, but how can you get it to and propose to your girlfriend when you’re miles and miles away?  That’s the question U.S. Army Corporal Jerry Davenport, a soldier stationed in Iraq, e-mailed Robbins Brothers, World’s Biggest Engagement Ring Store® in Arlington, Texas when he visited the company’s website (www.robbinsbros.com).  Robbins Brothers’ Ring Center immediately responded to Jerry’s inquiry, involved the Arlington store associates, and all worked closely together to find the perfect heart-shaped diamond ring and plan a memorable surprise proposal.

As part of the plan, Jeannie, Jerry’s girlfriend, arrived at Robbins Brothers in Arlington with two of her best girlfriends, under the impression that she was there to redeem a gift certificate for a contest she won but the general manager of the Arlington store led her to the store’s lounge to watch a “congratulatory message” from Chief Engagement Officer Steve Robbins on a big-screen television monitor which was actually a pre-recorded video of Jerry professing his love for her with “Will You Marry Me?” dressed in uniform with his weapon in hand.  After the proposal the store presented Jeannie with a bouquet of flowers, balloons and a champagne toast as customers and employees celebrated with her.

What a great idea and use of technology by those involved in making the overseas proposal possible!  Jerry returns to the states in March and he and Jeannie plan to marry then. Congratulations!
