The wedding wish box has been gaining popularity over the past year. Its a unique alternative to the traditional guest book.
Wedding Wish Box
During the wedding reception or bridal shower, guest writes their special wishes for the bride and groom on a slip of paper. Each guest then places their wish among all the other guest’s wishes. Often the wishes will be placed in a decorative box or Wedding Wish Vase. After the wedding, the couple will enjoy reading each wish. The wishes can then be stored in a Well Wisher Guest Book for years to come.

Wedding Wish Vase - during the reception guest place their wishes in wedding wish vase.

Wedding Wish Guest Books - after the ceremony the wishes are read by the bride and groom and placed in the wedding wish guest book. (The guest books come with the Wedding Wish cards.)

A unity candle creates a special, thoughtful moment during the wedding ceremony. Many couples will also take a moment to relight their unity candle on their anniversary.
Unity Candle
During the ceremony your minister or JP will ask the parents of the bride and groom to light 2 small tapers. Later in the ceremony, the bride and groom will each take the taper lighted by their parent and use it to light their unity candle. The lighted unity candle represents their new marriage.
Due to insurance reasons, many churches will not let you light a candle unless the candle is “smokeless and dripless”. If you are looking for a unity candle, be sure to look for a candle that is smokeless and dripless.
Here is a sneak peak at some new unity candles for Spring 2008.

Personalized Unity Candles - both these candles can be personalzied with the couple’s names and wedding date.

Square Unity Candles - Hortense B. Hewitt has introduced a new shape to unity candles.

Colorful Unity Candles - match your unity candle to your wedding colors with the perfect color ribbon.

If you’re looking for a way to personalized your wedding ceremony consider a sand ceremony. The sand ceremony is a unique alternative to a unity candle.
Sand Ceremony
During the sand ceremony, both the bride and the groom have a vase (or other container) of sand. The color of the sand should differ for both the bride and the groom. At the appointed time, their minister or JP will ask them to pour their sand into a large vase. This new vase symbolized the new couples marriage. The combination of the 2 colors of sand will make a unique design in the large, sand ceremony vase.
Since many churches won’t allow lighted candles, the sand ceremony is a nice way to get around this. The sand ceremony is also popular for beach or outdoor weddings, where it is difficult to keep a candle lit.

Sand Ceremony Kit - this kit includes 2 small side vases and one large vase. Both the side vases and center vase can be personalized with couple’s names, initials and/or wedding date.

Sand Ceremony Unity Kit - this kits comed with 2 small vases and 1 large vase. The large vase can be etched with the couples name and wedding date.

Sand Pouring Kit - the large vase in this kit is etched with 2 linked hearts. All the vases in this set can be engraved too.
You may also consider a wedding sand ceremony as a way to involve your children in the ceremony. The child or children could also pour a different color sand into the vase. This new vase will then symbolize the forming of a new family.
