Vendor Spotlight: Robert Goguen Photography
Robert Goguen has been a long time favorite photographer of ours. His photos are amazing! What makes him such a great photographer aside for his shots is that Robert enjoys getting to know his clients before the big event. As part of his wedding package he offers the “Us” photo sitting. He feels it ”gives the perfect opportunity to spend some time with each other before the wedding”.
Another great feature Robert provides (which is new for 2009) is “The Dress” shoot. The purpose of this shoot is for the couple to “put your wedding clothes back on and have some fun”.

Guests not Cutting Back on Gifts
Even though we’ve been hearing so much about the recession, job layoffs, and cutting back on spending lately, Brides.com, Conde Nast’s premier bridal destination, recently partnered with The Associated Press to poll American wedding guests on whether or not the recession is impacting how much they spend to join in “I do” festivities and despite the downturn in the economy, the survey found that cost is not a deterrent for Americans to attend weddings. This is good news for all you brides out there.
The survey found that generational differences play a part in gift giving with older guests feeling it is necessary to give a gift to the new couple. Additionally, the survey found that cost is not a factor in accepting wedding invitations. Other report findings are that people enjoy watching the wedding ceremony but many dislike group dances like the bunny hop, they’re not fond of the receiving line, and guests prefer a menu of chicken and wine over caviar and champagne.

WEDDING DAY Premieres on TNT
Did anyone check out the new reality TV series WEDDING DAY? The series premiered on TNT June 16th. Comfort Inn hotels and TNT team up to give a special couple a dream wedding each episode. I only caught the end of it but it looked pretty good.
WEDDING DAY takes a deserving, engaged couple and, along with their friends and family, pulls together an entire wedding ceremony and reception in one week’s time. The couple featured on this episode was Steve and Holli of Saginaw, MI. Four days before their wedding in 2007, Holli was injured in a near-fatal car crash. Thankfully, she came through but has had a painful recovery.
Holly and Steve’s dream wedding gift included a New York shopping spree and designer wedding dress and shoes, all courtesy of TNT’s WEDDING DAY. Plus, Boys II Men performed at the wedding after hearing about their moving story. Comfort Inn even gave members of the wedding party complimentary accommodations at a Comfort Inn convenient to the wedding’s location so everyone could be in one place to gather, get ready and unwind.
TNT’s WEDDING DAY will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
